Overseas Boat and Watercraft Shipping to all International Ports from the U.S.

Overseas Boat and Watercraft Shipping to all International Ports from the U.S.

Not all international shipping clients will transport automobiles, construction equipment, and personal effects overseas; however, international boat shipping services are an option for all shippers and can be extremely efficient, reliable, and affordable with a freight forwarder like K International Transport. With the help of a K International Transport agent, shippers can transport all types, makes, and models of boats to virtually any port in Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania, and South America.

Documentation for International Watercraft Shipping

Many shippers may wonder how the international boat shipping process begins. The process is very similar to that of transporting automobiles or construction equipment. Clients will have to pay for the shipping services and provide several documents to K International Transport. These documents include:

  • power of attorney form allowing K International Transport to handle the shipment
  • identification for both the shipper and the consignee, including the address of the shipper in the United States and abroad
  • original title of the boat

This list is not all-inclusive, however, and clients may need to produce more documentation if customs abroad demands it. In addition to the documentation, clients should also inform K International Transport of the dimensions of the watercraft and its monetary value, as well as their preferred schedule so that the shipment is timely. Keep in mind that the boat must be completely paid off before it can be shipped overseas.

Transporting Options for Your Boat

Once the payment and documents are in, shippers may be asked whether they can transport their boat to the domestic port themselves. If the shipper cannot transport the boat, K International Transport will appoint an experienced and reliable inland trucking and transportation company to transport the boat or watercraft. If the shipper can transport the watercraft, the shipper will take it from a warehouse or their door to a pre-determined port in the United States, where it will be loaded on a trailer or cradle, in a container, or with roll-on/roll-off (Ro/Ro) shipping.

Deciding between container and trailer or cradle and Ro/Ro shipping does not have to be difficult or stressful for shippers. K International Transport will help you make that decision. However, there are a few things you should know. First, containers are typically better suited for watercrafts that are not wheeled and are not self-propelled. Second, if the shipper wants to transport a few small personal effects and items with the boat, a container is the only option because other items may not be transported with Ro/Ro shipping. Third, the process of loading a boat or watercraft is much easier with Ro/Ro shipping because the watercraft (if amphibious or wheeled), can simply be driven onto the vessel. Finally, there are height restrictions with Ro/Ro shipping, and watercrafts typically cannot have a height of over thirteen feet.
